planned obsolescence is definitely a thing but you should still learn basic ways to fix/take care of electronics, like swapping out batteries or doing a factory reset. I recently sold the roomba I got from my grandma (she didn't understand it and kept it in a box) like twelve years ago - it still works because I looked up how to swap out the battery when it started to fail after six years. I spent the last few weeks wondering if I needed a new smart watch because the one I won in a student fair raffle eight years ago was getting kind of glitchy - tried a factory reset and it works perfectly. I have a nine year old laptop that is still chugging along like it always has - every few years I purge all the files and programs I'm not using regularly and I think that helps. When the little pump in our cat water fountain stopped working I figured out how to take it apart and clean it and then it worked again. The other day I found the voice recorder I used for my college journalism work - it was still in great shape despite being in a cupboard for a decade because I took the AAA batteries out before I stored it, so nothing corroded and I can listen to my awkward college interviews if I want to.

the electronic devices in your life want to work, they want to be good at their jobs, you just have to give them a little help by letting them take a nap (shutdown) from time to time and cleaning them and not bricking their batteries.

I had these ideas for handmade prints using 3d printed stamps. I was going to make them for Touhoufest but I don’t think I’ll have enough time to get around with the amount of experimentation I’d have to do. These are what the designs would have looked like.

my riso prints are much more likely than my regular digital prints to run out of stock or get retired/rotated out, because they're just much harder to make

my digital prints can basically be available as long as I want, since I outsource those and it's very easy for me to reorder them, but my riso prints are made in-person while threatening the riso printer with violence to keep working, because I'm a dummy who likes using 3-5 colors per print between 2 different printers

I don't know if this can be called a request, more like it's just a dream to read something cool. I rarely find long, really good twst fanfiction, but if you have something like this in mind, can you advise me? But if you don't have something to recommend, can you look for fanfiction with a reader who doesn't have a sense of time? I'm a little ashamed that I'm asking about fanfiction, which is probably very difficult to find, but if you don't have any results, then don't be afraid to ignore this query!

when i made this blog, i never really realized how interactions meant to writers. i have come across multiple inactive blogs looking for fics that were asked and a lot of them had the same problem of leaving - lack of interactions. this blog isn't like theirs, i don't write like them and as a reader i never really thought of it that much so after seeing it, if it's not too much to ask - please interact with them accordingly! aside from respecting their boundaries, please interact with them more than empty reblogs!

we discover more and more blogs along the way in this corner of Ramshackle and we will definitely see more, so let's not be ghosts towards them! 😸
